Initial consultations at A M Chiropractic include detailed history taking, a thorough examination, report of findings, and then treatment if Chiropractic Care is suitable for the individual.

First of all you will be asked a series of detailed questions about the reason for your visit, whether this be pain or just for a check up. Once we have got every detail, we will also ask about your health in general, enabling your Chiropractor to understand your body as an individual. We will explore any work, hobbies, sports, and activities that you may be prevented from doing due to your complaint, and use these as goals for our treatment outcomes.

Next, a focused full body examination will take place which includes looking at your posture, gait, movement and palpating relevant areas. Orthopaedic and Neurological tests will be performed, and if relevant to the individual we may look at cranial nerves, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems to help rule out other causes and be able to refer you to the correct health professional if required.

Your diagnosis will then be explained to you in a report of findings, and you will be presented with a detailed treatment plan. If suitable, individually tailored treatment will be given in this first appointment.

Treatment may include mobilisation, manipulations, soft tissue work, massage, trigger point therapy, and a wealth of advice on posture, stretches and exercises to list a few.
